Everyone living in South Africa seems genetically tuned to like travelling. Most likely it is because all our ancestors sometime, somewhere north of here said: “Enough is enough, we’re moving!” Fast forward a few hundred years, and we, their descendants, cannot give vent to this moving DNA anymore. Which explains why this totally over-priced extension by Welsh company Overlander Motorhomes seems so ... logical. It is called the DoubleBack as the sliding, insulated pod electrically extends the interior of Volkwagen’s T5 Transporter by some two metres in 45 seconds. The two automatic self-levelling legs carries about 600 kilograms. In the United Kingdom, it costs just under R671 000. Luckily for your wallet, Volkswagen SA has no plans to import them.
