Think of it not as a car

ASTON Martin won’t be taking any orders for its V12 Zagato when it goes on show at the Geneva Motor Show next month.
This is because a few super-wealthy car nuts and speculators in exotic cars have already snapped up the limited production run, announced in April last year.
Aston Martin will build exactly 150 Zagatos, with delivery scheduled in the last quarter of the year.
The recommend retail price for the new V12 Zagato runs to some £330 000 (R4 million before taxes).
This is a snip compared with the R12 million or more that one of the only 20 DB4 GT models that the Zagato factory built in Italy in 1960 fetches at auctions today.
Aston Martin’s CEO, Ulrich Bez, said: “Our relationship with Zagato stretches back more than 50 years.
“In the V12 Zagato, I believe we have captured the spirit of that car and combined it with a confident twist of modernity to give it a character all of its own.”
The V12 Zagato made its world debut at the prestigious Villa d’Este concours in May 2011. It won the Concept Cars and Prototypes class, and a month later completed the gruelling 24-hour endurance race at the Nürburgring.
It takes about 2 000 people hours to build each V12 Zagato, with the body comprising a combination of hand-crafted aluminium and carbon fibre.
Four unique colours have been created for the V12 Zagato — Scintilla silver, Alloro green, Alba blue and Diavolo red.
Fitment of the hand-crafted interior and upholstery then takes as much time as the client’s list of bespoke items is long.
