TOYOTA this week launched its affordable Etios sedan and hatch.
Designed to cope with anything the drivers of India, Brazil and South African
can throw at it, the Etios rides high on robust suspension and comes in with
aggressive pricing in the sub-B segment.
Leo Kok, senior manager of Corporate Communications at Toyota SA,
said low prices were not the only way in which the Etios aims to make people
smile, but the vehicle will also offer the over 15 000 runners in the Comrades
marathon a chance to tap-donate to the event’s charities.
“This year’s Comrades will see a Tap-a-Rand arch. Every runner that
runs under the arch and reach up to tap the Etios smile will send another rand
to the Comrade’s charity’s,” said Kok.
He told Weekend Witness that Toyota dealers have
already raised R42000 that will go to help kids with facial deformities.
Apart from this marketing initiative, the etios.co.za website also
offers anyone a chance to earn points that can be exchanged for real money or
donated to charities.
“When Etios makes you smile, you share it. This kind deed earns you
a point. Five smile shares equals R10, either in airtime of music downloads, 10
smile shares equals R20, half of which can be claimed.
Deon Oliver, new car sales manager at
McCarthy Toyota PMB said they have Etios models to test. “This car has it all – the most space in its class, the largest capacity engine in this price segment, everything you need in terms of kit all from just R115 800, so come earn a bonus entry into our uber smile with test drive,” invited Olivier.
