racing fans near Harrismith should make their way to the La La Nathi resort
today, where the RFS 450 cross country race will show Ford and Toyota’s Dakar
racers in all their might in the first round of Donaldson Cross Country
Championship.
The Pietermaritzburg-built Ford Rangers will be out to better their
runner-up status to Toyota from the start and team manager Neil Woolridge have
the backing of a new sponsor and experienced drivers to call on. On the
championship throne, the Toyota Motorsport team principal Glyn Hall however said
the team have again entered a formidable line-up
and were looking forward to the new season with great enthusiasm. This includes the privateers, whom Hall described as the backbone of motorsport.

“It is important that we recognise the efforts of privateers in our
cars and we are particularly keen to support up-and-coming rallyists in the
two-wheel drive S1600 class and help them gain the experience and skills to
graduate to the senior four-wheel drive class,” Hall added.
The opening round of the is the RFS 450, which takes place in the
Harrismith area of the Free State on February 28 and March 1.
