Also buy into the lifestyle, or take a taxi

If this is not your braai spot on the weekend, don't get a Landy.
AFTER 20 years selling used cars at SMG’s BMW franchise in Pietermartizburg, Alan Neave is moving a few hundred metres down the road to sell Land Rover, still for the SMG stable.
Asked what his advice is for aspiring Beemer or Landy owners, Neave offered some unconventional wisdom: “If you don’t intend to embrace the lifestyle that comes with these brands, rather just take a taxi to get to point B.”
Neave is not just punting the brands he sells, but practising what he preaches.
He owns a battered old Defender that has been to the top of most hills around Maritzburg and further afield and is keen to lead expeditions to all the hidden delights around KZN’s capital.

“After a house and education, a car is the biggest financial outlay most people have. And I believe that the wheels you are paying so much money for, must make you smile each time you drive them, and of course you must make the effort to either go to a track to experience for yourself the BMW’s fantastic handling, or offroad to see why Land Rover lays claim to be the best 4x4xfar.”
He said the Land Rover dealer in town will soon also be the local Jaguar headquarters, and invites people who want to get add quality to their lives to go test drive the new Jaguar F-Pace SUV when the showroom opens in 2017.

As for Land Rover, Neave predicts demand for the discontinued Defender will continue unabated, which is why used models are already holding their value so well. Wheels can recommend to anyone who want to embrace live to pay Neave a visit.
