News from Backdraft Racing, KZN’s largest privately-owned sports car exporter, is that bigger is better. Tony Martin, CEO of Bacdraft, (pictured) told Weekend Witness: “All cars now come with 18” knock-on wheels instead of 17” wheels, to keep up with latest tyre technology.”
Martin, who has earned a reputation as a slick V8 racer, said the larger wheels improve the handling ability of the vehicles. Under the hood Backdraft now offers “the newest generation, latest specification GM 5,3 litre Vortec aluminium engine”, which replaces the previous 4,8 litre steel block engine. The new block produces about 30-40 more horsepower than the previous engine. Its comes with either a four-speed automatic or five-speed manual transmission,” said Martin.
