The list, culled from last month’s sales as disclosed to the
National Association of Automobile Manufacturers of South Africa (Naamsa), shows
that seven brands between them sold over a third of October’s sales of 57 845
units, which is 10,5% up on last year.
Volkswagen’s Polo is still firmly at the top of the top ten sales,
with 6 224 proud new owners having signed for either the Polo hatch or a sedan
last month.
The downstream parts suppliers at “Jutteniggi” (officially known as
Uitenhage) remain grateful for SA’s support. Toyota’s Polo challenger, the new
Etios, fared better with 2 625 units.
Toyota has three more models in the top ten. with the Hilux bakkie
ahead of the Corolla/Auris and Fortuner models. In total, Toyota again sold the
most units (12 139) followed by VW (10 125).
