British panelbeaters David Anderson and Matthew Hine, from Anderson’s Bodyshop, have built what is unofficially the world’s fastest mobility scooter.
The pair fitted a 600 cc Suzuki Bandit drive train on an old car chassis, "splitting the exhaust, shortening the sump and so on"; and made all their own body parts from aluminium.
Then they went and broke the previous record of 143 km/h (89 m/h) on August 30.
Hine rode the fully functioning old person’s chair to a top speed of 173,16 km/h (107,6 m/h) at a drag event in the Pokerstars dragstrip in the UK.
The only thing keeping this very mobile mobility scooter off highways is its lack of front brakes. Otherwise granddad could have been off like a shot.
