Hoping to make like Alfie

Scott Bouverie from the KZN in  South Africa on his way to
third place in the Sea to Sky in Turkey in 2016.
KZN has two riders in the three-member team that KTM Brother Leader Tread are sending to the world’s toughest dirt bike race.
The race is known by several names, including the Erzbergrodeo, the Iron Giant and the Red Bull Hare Scramble in Austria.
The prologue for this year’s edition starts today and racing ends on Sunday. Some 1500 dirt bike riders are racing in the very tought prologue, hoping to end in the top 50 to compete in the annual
Hard Enduro, the biggest of its kind in Europe and widely hailed as the world’s toughest race.
The main directive from the organisers has always been to see only one finisher cross the line at the end of the event.
KZN's Travis Teasdale interviews the media.
South Africa’s riders will be tackling the Erzbergrodeo with high hopes of repeating the feat of legendary KZN rider Alfie Cox, who won the inaugural event back in 1995. To date, Cox remains the only South African to claim the top step.
Midlands rider Travis Teasdale, Scott Bouverie from Harding and Gautenger Dwayne Kleynhans have all settled in Austria ahead of the big event. Teasdale has been based in Europe for months already, preparing himself for the event. Bouverie will be attempting his fourth Erzbergrodeo. For Kleynhansm, it will be his second.
