Chery have no reason to be smug -- the NDRC is checking local car builders too... |
China’s anti-monopoly regulator, the National Development and
Reform Commission (NDRC) has added Chrysler to the list of companies fined for
monopoly behaviour.
The American marque now joins Audi, BMW and Mercedes-Benz in the
naughty corner for “fixing the prices of both their cars and spare parts”.
The NDRC said in a statement FAW-Volkswagen, which also sells Audi
in China, was fined R444 million and eight Audi dealers were fined
R51,4 million. Chrysler was hit with a R56,9 million fine and three of its
dealers were fined about R350 000.
The commission calculated the fines using a 2008 regualtion that
allows them to impose a fine of between one and 10% of a company’s revenues in
the preceding year.
